Year 7 PE
Key Stage 3 PE offers students the opportunity to focus on further developing skills learnt in Key Stage 2 and to introduce these skills into game situations. The pupils will be given the opportunity to become increasingly skilful and intelligent performers, acquire and develop skills, learn how to select and apply skills and basic tactics.
In Year 7 pupils have two 1 hour PE lessons a week. Every pupil will spend a minimum of eight weeks on each sport.
Students are set in three groups, girls and boys and a mixed group.
During the year, students will experience a range of games focusing on developing skills in activities including rugby, netball, football, cricket, rounders, hockey, tennis and badminton. These are the eight major games in which pupils will have the opportunity to compete against other local schools.
Additional time is given to lunchtime and after-school activities in these areas. To complement the games curriculum pupils in year seven also undertake gymnastics/trampolining, dance, fitness and athletics.
